Game snapshot

Dungeon Hunter 4 is a freemium action-RPG set in an expansive fantasy world where you battle hordes of demonic foes. Released by Gameloft in 2013, the title combines cinematic storytelling, polished visuals, and hack-and-slash combat. Some sequences contain graphic violence and extended cutscenes.

Where you can play

  • Mobile: originally released for Android and iOS smartphones and tablets.
  • Desktop: compatible with macOS and Windows (including Windows 8 and Windows 10) via supported installers or emulators. Note: Gameloft removed the game from its official storefronts and disabled online services for DH4, but the last release can still be downloaded and installed from some sources. Server-dependent features may be limited or unavailable.

Choosing your hero

Pick from four distinct archetypes, each with its own combat role and animation preview:

  • Sentinel — a ranged specialist who uses bows, lays traps, and fights from a distance.
  • Warmage — a spellcaster able to blast enemies and use short-range teleports or bursts of power.
  • Blademaster — excels in single-target melee, with evasive or draining magical abilities.
  • Battleworn — a heavy-hitting fighter built to cleave through groups with sweeping strikes. You can customize gender and give your character a name during creation.

Controls and on-screen information

  • Movement is handled with a virtual joystick in the lower-left corner; responsiveness is immediate.
  • Primary attacks are triggered by the weapon button on the lower-right; enemies must be in range to hit them.
  • Skill buttons appear near the weapon icon and are used to unleash special abilities.
  • Health and level are shown at the top-left, while a minimap and objective arrow are positioned at the top-right.
  • Consumables (health/energy vials) appear on-screen for quick restoration during combat.

Progression, currency and store

DH4 follows a typical free-to-play economy:

  • You earn coins, gems, and loot chests while exploring and defeating foes; these replenish your inventory without required payments.
  • In-app purchases are available in the shop for armor, equipment, and premium items, and the game frequently prompts purchases.
  • Leveling up increases your character’s stats and grants points used to improve abilities.

Skill trees and ability types

Character advancement spans three kinds of talents:

  • Spirit abilities — passive or special effects tied to your character’s essence.
  • Passive talents — constant bonuses that augment stats or resource gains.
  • Active skills — abilities you trigger in combat for immediate impact.

World, foes and game modes

  • The campaign unlocks new regions as you progress (for example, Valenthia).
  • While the focus is single-player exploration, some multiplayer features exist online where supported.
  • Enemies include corrupted human soldiers and a range of creatures, including winged attackers and other beasts; enemy health bars deplete as you fight.
  • Gold and gem totals are displayed across the top of the HUD, with quick access to the in-game shop.

Similar titles worth trying

  • Titan Quest — an action-RPG with comparable camera perspectives and dark fantasy battlegrounds.
  • Genshin Impact — a free-to-play exploration RPG noted for bright environments and open-world traversal.
  • Diablo — a foundational hack-and-slash series with similar combat themes and atmosphere.

Current development status

Gameloft has halted active development on Dungeon Hunter 4 to reallocate resources elsewhere. No new content updates are being released, though the final downloadable version remains obtainable in some places.
