In-flight monitoring and assistance
While piloting, the app shows essential telemetry at a glance: signal strength, flight mode, altitude, distance from the controller, and remaining battery. These live readouts keep you informed so you can focus on composing shots and maintaining safe flight. DJI Fly also packages step-by-step beginner tutorials that help new pilots learn controls and best practices.
Discoverability and community sharing
A built-in search makes it easy to find noteworthy Fly Spots and view GEO zones near you. The app connects with SkyPixel, allowing you to upload and browse aerial photos and videos within a community dedicated to drone content.
Editing workflow and creative tools
DJI Fly includes an integrated editor with templates and timeline-based controls for trimming, arranging, and refining clips. It supports both portrait and landscape orientations, giving flexibility for different social platforms and creative formats. The timeline is straightforward, enabling precise edits without the need for a separate editing app.
Strengths and current limitations
DJI Fly consolidates shooting, editing, and sharing into a single application, saving time and storage by removing the need for third-party editors. However, some advanced manual camera controls are limited compared with professional-focused apps, and there remains room for expanded features and more granular settings to better satisfy power users.
