Faster multitasking with tabs
We often juggle several tasks at once, and that usually means inundating the desktop with multiple Explorer windows. Clover simplifies that by letting you open many folders inside a single File Explorer window using a tabbed layout, reducing the need to constantly switch between separate windows.
Work inside one unified window
Clover keeps all of Windows Explorer’s familiar elements—the navigation pane, preview panel, and standard menus—while adding tabs so you can view several folders side by side within a single frame. You can pin frequently accessed locations to a bookmarks bar, similar to a browser’s favorites, so your important folders are always a click away.
Quick ways to save or open bookmarks:
- Drag a folder onto the bookmarks bar.
- Right-click a tab or press Ctrl + D to add the current folder to bookmarks.
Useful keyboard controls
Clover supports common keyboard shortcuts to speed navigation; a few examples:
- Ctrl + W — close the active tab
- Ctrl + Tab — cycle through open tabs
- Ctrl + T — open a new tab
Once installed, Clover integrates with Explorer so these shortcuts and tab behaviors feel native and responsive.
Additional conveniences
Beyond tabs and bookmarks, Clover includes features that make folder management more flexible:
- Restore a tab you just closed from the context menu or with a shortcut.
- Import bookmarks from an HTML file, or export your current bookmarks for backup or sharing.
- Switch tabs using the mouse wheel or other mouse gestures.
Language support covers many regions, for example:
- Russian
- Chinese
- Dutch
- Spanish
- French
Clover is lightweight and quick to launch new tabs, and it doesn’t try to replace advanced file managers like Total Commander. Its aim is simple: add tabbed navigation to Windows Explorer to help you move faster.
How this improves productivity
By consolidating multiple folders into one window, Clover reduces desktop clutter and helps you manage files across locations without opening numerous windows. That saves screen space and can speed up workflows—especially when you’re handling many folders at once. If your goal is to streamline everyday file navigation rather than adopt a complex file management suite, Clover is a practical solution.
