Forming valid combinations

A player’s progress depends on assembling either “sets” or “runs”:

• Runs: three or more consecutive cards of the same suit (for instance, 7♦-8♦-9♦). Players score and advance by arranging their hand into these legal groups; the first to clear their hand wins the round.

How a round proceeds

• Each participant receives a fixed number of cards from the shuffled deck at the start.
• The leftover cards are placed face down to create the draw pile; one card may start the discard pile.
• On their turn, players may pick the top card from either the draw pile or the discard pile, then discard one card.
• Play continues in turns until a player goes out or the draw pile is exhausted.
