Quick overview
Builder Simulator is a PC title made by Live Motion Games that puts you in control of construction projects. The current release is a pre-alpha demo, so it’s an early build rather than a finished product. The game focuses on realistic building tasks, letting you assemble structures from the foundation up — literally placing materials and components step by step.
Gameplay and core mechanics
Playing takes place from a first-person viewpoint. You can plan and construct a range of buildings, from private homes to commercial shops and industrial units. The experience emphasizes authenticity: you use genuine construction tools, specialist equipment, and real-world building supplies. Resource management matters — run out of materials and your project stalls.
Difficulty settings change how much guidance you receive. In the easier mode the game provides explicit, step-by-step instructions. Hard mode removes all prompts, so you depend entirely on your own building knowledge. Regardless of difficulty, there are no AI workers: the player performs every task.
Key highlights
- Real-world tools and construction supplies are modelled in detail.
- Multiple project types are possible, including residential and industrial builds.
- First-person perspective places you in the boots of the builder.
Known problems in the demo
Because the title is still in pre-alpha, several technical and gameplay issues remain. Reported problems include:
- Strong motion blur effects that can make the visuals uncomfortable during play.
- Difficulty achieving consistent concrete mixes; getting the exact ratio is often impractical in the demo.
- Bugs with laying the foundation — some users find they cannot completely fill the foundation slab with concrete.
Expect these and other rough edges until later development patches are released.
Is the demo worth trying?
If you enjoy construction simulators and want a very hands-on building experience, this demo can be enjoyable. It captures the satisfaction of assembling a structure piece by piece and does a good job of reproducing many real-world construction elements. However, because it’s an early build, gameplay can be disrupted by glitches and awkward mechanics. Try the demo if you’re curious or excited about the concept, but wait for a more polished version if you want a fully stable experience.
Quick tips for the demo
- Keep a close eye on material inventories to avoid stopping mid-build.
- Start with guided (easy) mode if you’re new to construction sims.
- Reduce or disable motion blur in settings if the visuals bother you.
