Overview of BluetoothView
BluetoothView is a lightweight utility that quietly scans for Bluetooth devices nearby and helps you connect to them more easily than the default Windows Bluetooth tool. It runs in the background and reports when new devices appear, making it useful for users who frequently switch between multiple Bluetooth gadgets.
How it reports detected devices
For every device it finds, BluetoothView shows several pieces of information so you can quickly identify and select the correct unit:
- Last Detection Time
- First Detection Time
- Bluetooth Address
- Device Name
- Minor Device Type
- Major Device Type
- Other small details (signal strength, class, etc.)
Notification controls
The program operates unobtrusively and alerts you only when a new device is discovered. You can choose how you want to be notified:
- Taskbar popup (default)
- Audible beep in place of the taskbar balloon
If you prefer no popup at all, the audible option offers a less intrusive alternative.
Who benefits from this tool
BluetoothView is most helpful when you frequently work with multiple Bluetooth devices and want a faster way to find and connect to them than manually scanning each time. If your PC’s built-in Bluetooth scanner already meets your needs, this utility may be unnecessary; but for heavy Bluetooth users, it streamlines discovery and connection.
Recent improvements
- Added the ability to hide paired devices. Since paired devices can appear in scans even when idle, this option keeps your list focused on active, unpaired devices.
Suggested alternative
If you want another option, consider WIDCOMM Bluetooth for Windows (Windows 8 and 10). It’s a free alternative that some users prefer for driver-level management and broader device support.
