Game overview — medieval physics brawling
Bloody Bastards is a physics-driven medieval fighting game in which you pit characters against one another in brutal one-on-one duels. Matches end only when one combatant is incapacitated, making each clash dramatic and decisive. The title is free-to-play and focuses on single-opponent encounters rather than extended team battles.
Customization and equipment
You can outfit your fighter from a wide array of gear, allowing for numerous risky combinations and playstyles.
- Headgear and helmets
- Footwear and boots
- Torso armor pieces
- Leg armor
- Defensive shields
- Melee weapons
There are hundreds of individual items, so experimenting with different loadouts is a key part of the fun.
Match structure and progression
The current build centers on a ladder-style progression: you fight successive AI opponents, and defeating them unlocks the next challenger. Performance is rated with a star system — you can earn up to three stars per fight, but only a single star is required to advance.
At present, there’s no online matchmaking; all battles are against computer-controlled foes.
Controls and input
On-screen controls are straightforward but require timing to master.
- Swipe or rotate toward the right side to perform weapon attacks
- Swipe or rotate toward the left side to raise and manipulate your shield
- Double-tap the far left or right edges of the screen to switch stance or focus
These simple gestures make the game easy to pick up, though winning tight 1v1 bouts against skilled opponents still demands practice.
Areas for improvement
The core loop is entertaining, but the game could benefit from additional modes and multiplayer options:
- Arena-style competitions or monster-filled arenas
- Direct player-versus-player matchmaking
- Cooperative dungeon runs or PvE content to diversify encounters
Adding more variety would make it easier to play with friends and extend replay value.
Content advisory
While the art style is somewhat exaggerated and cartoony, the game contains graphic moments such as decapitations and dismemberment when a character is defeated. These scenes may be unsuitable for younger players.
