Blockify for Windows

Overview

Blockify is a small utility from TriBe that aims to improve the Spotify listening experience by avoiding commercial interruptions. It mutes or replaces advertisements while you stream, and it’s distributed free of charge. Note: compatibility with the newest Spotify builds is not guaranteed.

How ads are handled

• When Blockify recognizes an ad break, it automatically silences the Spotify audio so you don’t have to hear the commercial.
• Instead of silence, you can opt to have Blockify play MP3 files from a specified folder on your computer; the app will keep playback of the MP3 running until that file finishes, then return to Spotify.
• After the advertisement ends, the program restores the Spotify volume so your session resumes as normal.

Handy extras and playback control

• Blockify offers keyboard shortcuts for controlling playback (play/pause, shuffle, repeat), letting you control Spotify without bringing the main app to the foreground.
• The shortcut commands are predefined; you can assign them to keys but cannot create new command types or edit the built-in set.
• The app can be linked to your installed Spotify client so it launches and quits alongside Spotify, and it includes a simple lyric-finding feature for the tracks you play.

Installation and prerequisites

• The program is portable — there is no installer. After downloading, unzip the package and run the executable directly.
• It automatically detects a desktop installation of Spotify when present.
• Blockify requires the Microsoft .NET Framework to be installed in order to run.
