The world and its broken traditions
Long ago, people preserved knowledge in a grim ritual: trees grown from the brains of the dead served as living memory vaults. That practice preserved culture until Sorcisto, a figure who rejected the rite, began consuming brains to accelerate his understanding and power. His transgression spread a creeping corruption known as the Blight, which devastated villages and uprooted the memory trees.
You begin as the sole survivor of this collapse. Your central task is to recover the scattered memories of your community, traveling through ruined lands, meeting odd and sometimes dangerous characters, and gradually piecing together the truth about what happened. The narrative emerges slowly, rewarding careful exploration and attention to environmental detail.
Combat, corruption, and gameplay feel
Combat emphasizes deliberate timing and combo flow. Success relies on chaining attacks, using finishers effectively, and reading enemy patterns. As the Blight inside you grows, it changes the world’s behavior: foes become tougher, environments shift, and new paths may open or close depending on your state.
The game mixes responsive, skill-based encounters with evolving abilities tied to memory recovery. That system creates a feedback loop where progression and playstyle influence both narrative and mechanical access to the world.
Modes, progression, and longevity
Blighted supports nonlinear exploration and offers a co-op option for players who want to tackle its challenges together. Memory-based progression and multiple possible outcomes encourage repeated playthroughs. The combination of branching endings and evolving combat systems gives the title strong replay potential for fans of action-oriented RPGs.
Current state and expectations
Though it shows considerable promise, Blighted has not yet been released and no official launch date has been announced. Early impressions point to a rich, atmospheric adventure with tight combat and an original setting that should appeal to players who enjoy difficult, thoughtful action RPGs.
