Installing the sounds

2. Move the sound files (.aiff or .caf) into either ~/Library/Sounds (current user) or /Library/Sounds (all users).
3. Open System Preferences or System Settings depending on your macOS version, then go to Sound → Sound Effects to find the new items.

The process is straightforward and doesn’t require extra software.

How to preview and set tones

• Open the Sound Effects list in Sound settings and click any item to preview it.
• Select a sound to use as your system alert; volume and other audio preferences can be adjusted in the same panel.
