Control Android from macOS
You're working at your computer when your phone buzzes—how often do you stop to pick it up just to read a message or answer a call? AirDroid Desktop removes that interruption by bringing many phone functions into your macOS workspace. It creates a bridge between your Android device and your desktop so you can handle communications and device controls without switching devices constantly.
Essential communications tools
- Accept or reject incoming calls, check missed calls, and place calls using an on-screen dial pad for hands-free management.
- View a live, interactive mirror of your phone screen using AirMirror technology so you can navigate apps with your mouse as if you were holding the handset.
- Read, compose, and send SMS and app messages (WhatsApp, Line, Kik, email, etc.) directly from the desktop; notifications are mirrored so you won’t miss important alerts.
- All messages handled through the desktop client are kept in sync with your phone’s message history.
Media, files, and folder handling
- Manage folders and perform remote file organization across the device when logged in, including moving and renaming directories.
- Transfer music, videos, photos, GIFs, APKs, and web links wirelessly—no USB cable required.
- Note: some advanced transfer or management capabilities may require a Pro subscription.
Remote camera and streaming options
AirDroid Desktop provides a remote camera view that can use either the front or rear phone camera. That lets you monitor the phone’s surroundings in real time and is useful for live-streaming gameplay, demonstrating apps, or checking a room remotely.
Interface behavior and known constraints
- A few management tools (for example, certain photo-management functions and the phone-locator features) are only available through the web interface rather than the desktop client.
- The desktop client uses floating windows and notification pop-ups integrated into your system rather than a single, conventional app window.
- While feature-rich, the app still has room for polish and occasional performance improvements.
Bottom line
AirDroid Desktop isn’t flawless, but it’s a practical productivity enhancer if you want to reduce device switching. It’s well-designed for integrating Android phone features into your computer workflow, making it easier to stay focused while staying connected.
