Aika can be played offline for much of its content, but there are online components for certain services. The game is distributed via two separate installers, each corresponding to different segments or modes of the game. Installing the client itself is free; however, an in-game virtual mall (which requires an Internet connection) offers specialty items and extras for purchase.
