End of official Android distribution
Adobe stopped distributing Flash Player for Android in 2021. As a result, this application will not function on devices running Android 4.0.1 and newer. If you try to download it, the download link will take you to Adobe’s Flash Player End‑of‑Life information page.
Device compatibility — how to check
Although distribution has ended, a limited set of devices retained official Flash support. To see whether your phone is among them, consult the device compatibility list on Adobe’s website or the Flash Player compatibility reference provided by Adobe.
What Flash adds to your mobile browser
- Access to Flash-based video players, interactive animations and browser games.
- Support for web apps and multimedia that were built with Flash technology.
- A richer, legacy web experience for pages that still rely on SWF content.
Android vs. iOS: platform differences
Android historically offered support for Flash content on certain handsets, giving it an advantage over iOS, which has never officially supported Flash. That meant Android users could load some legacy multimedia that iPhone and iPad users could not.
Recommendation
For the fullest possible access to older Flash content on your phone, install Adobe Flash Player only if your device is listed as supported. Keep in mind the software is no longer actively distributed, so follow the official EOL guidance on Adobe’s information page before proceeding.
