App snapshot
3CX is a commercial communications client built to link mobile devices with an organization’s telephony network. The app is intended to pair with a PC-hosted central system and acts as a mobile companion so employees can message colleagues, place voice calls or join video conferences while away from the desk.
Linking your phone to the company system
After installing the mobile client, connection to your workplace is straightforward: scan the QR code provided by the web or desktop console to register the device. Once enrolled, the app mirrors many of the office capabilities and uses VoIP for voice and video, so call clarity depends on your internet connection.
Primary capabilities
- Video conferencing and screen-enabled calls for face-to-face meetings on the go
- Standard voice calling through the company network using VoIP
- Instant messaging and team chat features for text-based collaboration
The mobile client also synchronizes with your office extension (so contacts, voicemail and routing match the main system), and you can update your presence/status to indicate availability or do-not-disturb.
Costs, requirements and limits
While the 3CX mobile app itself can be downloaded at no charge, it must be registered to the paid 3CX V18 platform to operate — it is not a standalone product. Because it’s part of a larger subscription service, regular use is required: accounts that remain unused or do not acknowledge notifications for a continuous seven-day period may be marked inactive and removed, requiring re-registration.
Best-fit scenarios
This solution works well for businesses that need employees to stay reachable outside the office. It delivers the full suite of communication channels (chat, voice, video) and carries over office features to mobile devices — provided the organization maintains an active V18 subscription and users check in periodically. Comparable enterprise options include platforms such as RingCentral and FuzeMobile.
