There is a bug in TOvcCustomPictureField.efTransfer which causes an AV and there is a source fix, see this bug :

My colleague found a bug when testing the going through the code.
When the field was empty and visually edited, he got an AV.
This is the part he has fixed, the efFieldIsEmpty:
"end else if efFieldIsEmpty or (Length(SP^) MaxLength) then begin
if efFieldIsEmpty or (String(DataPtr^) = '') then // SZ"
Here is his proposed fix in it's entirety:

We were just moving to Delphi 2009, almost giving up and suddenly it was fixed, can't wait to see if it works.

But I am not involved in this project anymore, so I might not understand what you are looking for...Do you mean that the xbancontrol no longer work due to changes in firmware? Or are you just looking for the protocol specification?
