So the "fails on some PCs" was actually due to a hardware bug on a particular keyboard. Please disregard that since I cannot edit the ticket. If the already-in-use explains the preview confusion then I'd like to suggest the preview recognize its own assignment and still show the 'A' in that case. And when there is a conflict with other programs then ideally it would have a message explaining that the combo is already taken. Regardless, thanks for taking the time to respond.
