Yes, it should, there is an extra LAN option, which you could try out, but I'm not quite sure how functional it is at the moment.
What do you mean by "did not find any node"? Alliance doesn't search for nodes by itself, you have to generate an invitation code and send it to someone you want to connect to. This invitation code contains your (encrypted) IP address, but since Alliance...

So, what's your point now exactly? I don't mean to be rude, I just don't get it, please help me here ;-)

Well, if you think that "there is no need for very strong anonymity and decentralization", then why are you using Alliance? Those are two of the main reasons to use Alliance and not some common P2P filesharing software. And I think you can't make it any easier than the connection codes.
Staying connected isn't that hard, but you either need many friends, so the chance of finding...

I think the problem lies in the authentication protocol.
I don't know how it works, but it seems like the only thing required to establish a connection is to know the other users ID.
For me, this is the biggest security problem of Alliance. Although it is a very easy method of authentication and understandable by all users, I'd prefer a public/private key method.
As for your problem...

Well, I think you will find people for every opinion. Personally, I'd prefer a command line tool, because it provides for a better control, scripting, etc., but for all the non-geeks out there, a web-interface might be better.
I only looked at the source code once, but I think the common step for reaching both goals would be to separate functionality from the user interface. From my own...

No problem, actually I answered that quick because I felt somehow bad about not contributing to this project for so long ;-)
I should mention that this project is not organized hierarchical (or in any other form ;) ), so I don't speak for the others, but I do try to say only correct things.

Yes, everyone in your list sees what you post.
> 2. Many users in our "main chat" have different number of nicks connected. Is it possible then that some users see me discussing something in the "main chat" but don't see the text from the others in the conversation?.

Technically, XOR is the most secure encryption there is, if the key meets some conditions (see One-Time-Pad http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One-time_pad).
But I agree, SSL or PGP/GPG is something that should be implemented.

When a download is canceled, it disappears from the list, but the bandwidth monitor shows that the transfer is still active (at sender and receiver).
Reconnecting to the sender resolves this, but that shouldn't be the solution, should it?.
