Display of short date (date only) in the date column is not because of import problems from Outlook Express. It is because of a setting to show short date format only.
Sorting by date does not get effected by the date format being shown in the date column.
Are you unable to sort by date properly?.

Most of the distributions even moderately new should not have any problem.
I shall try to fix the problem with the next bug fix release or so. But it is quite some effort to change the build environments for archs and configurations, so I can't promise anything yet.

Spicebird is compiled with glib 2.16.
If you like to check if it works with newer glib:
try compiling glib 2.16 or above into your home directory without disturbing the system. Then set the LD_LIBRARY_PATH properly and start Spicebird. When done, simply remove the glib install directory from home.

Ouch! for this release of Spicebird we have used Debian 5.0 Lenny as the build platform. So, I think it is looking for newer version of libglib than what is available on EeePC. Could you tell me the version of glib that is available on EeePC and if it is upgradeable to a newer version?.

Also, you need to have Outlook installed on your computer in order to be able to see it in the list of programs to import from.
