Could you both also tell us what the "[official instructions][1]" are missing?
Also, are you doing a demo install or "production" install? If the former, we're planning to make an amazon ami so you can be up and running fast.

Some information about how to integrate Google sites and Joomla with opentaps would really be great. Would either of you care to share something, maybe just notes for the wiki, or any code or modules that could help?.

So how would you like the system to remember the search? Should there be a button to save the search criteria?
I would like some kind of a feature request system, where people could collaborate on designing and voting for features. I think that would be a good way to find out how much people really want the features.
Does anybody know if source Forge has something that supports that...

Thank you for your feedback. I'm glad you like the application.
How do you think we can make opentaps easier to install? Do you think we should have some kind of a setup wizard, that can walk people through setting up the company, its accounting, warehouses, stores, and users? Basically, use the my company as a template, but prompt the user for their own values?.

You need to start with a fresh database, and only install from seed. That would cause the files in mycomopany to be loaded. If you have already loaded the data, then you would have to go into the database to manually delete the entries.

You are right.
These are actually for different purposes. The files in accounting are for demo purposes. The files in mycompany can be used to set up your organization, including his chart of accounts. However, mycompany should have been commented out and not loaded. I have fixed this in r13930.

Hi everybody,
I have been doing some thinking on how to improve the modularity of opentaps. I looked at the way the Joomla, WordPress, Magento, Facebook, and Salesforce.com frameworks support modularity -- i.e., how they allow you to add modules or plug-ins and summarized it here: [Examples of Modularity][1]
Looking at this, I see some areas where we could improve, and I'd like to hear...

@xu_dong:I think this example requires running opentaps and a portal separately, and using RMI to pull pages from opentaps into the portal.
Do you or anyone else have any experience developing for J2EE portals? I would like to find out if we could put opentaps into a portal, because I think that would be the best way to do what you are looking for.

That would probably take some customizing but should not be too hard.

Thanks for your honest feedback. It's supposed to allow screens/pages from ofbiz-based systems to be loaded into a portal like jboss or liferay or websphere. I was hoping this might help with making opentaps more modular, but I don't think it'll do everything we need either.
