I was hoping to make a menu with buttons in which both the normal and selected button faces were drawn by different images (or in which the normal button face was in the background image and the selected was an 'overlay') but this doesn't seem to work.

Thanks Varol, that seems to do the trick. I didn't think to try that because I thought that's what the "shrink button size to match text extension" button was doing!

I'm having a problem with text buttons (I'm running 0.7.0 on Fedora 8 and I had the same problem with 0.6.1 previously).

It's been working fantastically for me. I also discovered that you can set the default username using gconf-editor so you don't have to type it every time you connect (some folks may not want this though for security reasons).

On FC6, gvpndialer was dying with NULL pointers passed to gtk_entry_set_text(). I fixed this (in callbacks.c) by wrapping calls to gconf_client_get_string() in a new function that I defined which simply returns a blank str ("") if the given ptr is null.
