It does not bother me, as I don't need it, but just for information: With the Mediawiki LTS-version 1.31.1 the refbase-extsension does not work with the output type 'cite' => results in an internal error: "[6f1ca2fa58d50250cc061071] 2019-02-23 00:29:49: Fatal exception of type "ParseError". Perhaps this is due to the change of the extension Cite and CiteThisPage. The Cite extension is now only for the tags <ref>, <ref> and <reference>, to let the user create references for footnotes.</reference></ref></ref>....

I - patched refbase with patch of Thibault as you suggested, - downgraded php to 7.2.15, as mediawiki 1.31.1 (LTS) did not work with 7.3.2, - made a complete new install of mediawiki without all these Lua-modules, - uploaded your Cite_Journal template, - installed the refbase-extension and now ... everything works! Thank you very much for all your help. I'm happy! Have a nice day, a nice weekend and so on ... Ralf

Is the SVN version the same as refbase-bleeding-edge? (I admit that I lost where exactly I downloaded it from.)

Our post just crossed. Thank you for your hint. I agree. I will do a new installation of mediawiki as soon as possible and write again. Thank you.
