Holding control, while clicking and dragging on the movement circle just causes the other sibling nodes to expand or contract. They won't contract below a certain threshold making a drawing like the one I submitted impossible to make with the current placement engine. However, even if it could contract the siblings within the zone of the children, as in the drawing, that wouldn't solve this...

True, nodes can be dragged around, but this only creates _more_ whitespace, not less. Nodes above and below the dragged node gets moved too. Again, this may be interpreted as readability, but it makes compact representations of information impossible.
I've attached a .jpg I worked up to show what I mean. In the example, the "facts" don't make the mindmap grow vertically. A more complex...

The current layout system creates huge maps with relatively few nodes. This is because parent and child nodes fall in columns based on each node's width. The maps produced have a lot of uniformity and perhaps that's interpreted as readability, but at the cost of making any large collection of information unwieldy.
I'd like to see every node capable of being dragged freely around in the...

How about implementing alternate render modes for the mindmap tree? Specifically, I'd like a mode that lets me get as much text as possible on to a page in as small a space as possible. Set a font size and a page size, then the tree mode changes to a block mode.
In the block mode, branches are assigned individual blocks. Each block is subdivided recursively for branches off the main branch.

I'm not sure if other phones have the problem, but the Nokia 6820 is limited to 64kb files. Any chance I could get a build with multiple smaller .jar files?.
