The line in my script starting with "set retVal ..." must be 1 long line.
It has been split into 2 lines by the "Add a comment" text widget.
So you get the "missing format" error message.

I've uploaded binary packages of the SVN head as of 2009/01/03 for different OS (including Windows) onto my homepage: http://www.posoft.de/html/extTkImg.html
The tkImg packages have been created stubs-enabled with Tcl/Tk 8.4.18 (and also tested against a Tcl 8.5.5 interpreter).

Just committed a new version of the ICO parser in tkImg, which takes care of Jan's issue #1: Additional consistency checks.
Tested with attached (defect) icon file and hundreds of (correct) icon files.
Jan, you may close this bug now or leave it as a reminder for issue #2.
