I'll also throw my vote in for CHD support. It compresses better than XZ, compresses faster due to good multi-thread support, packs multiple tracks into a single file that's easier to handle, and is fully reversible back to the original format if needed. With dosbox-x now support CHD, I'm looking at converting all of my older PC games over to this format, and would be great to be able to mount them via cdemu when needed as well.

Yeah, you're not likely to find many XZ-compressed ROMs (since no emulators support them) nor much on the Windows side at all since there's no native support there. On the Linux side, though, xz has basically superceded both gz and bzip2, so I'm in the habit of using it for pretty much everything now.

Correction - the original patch replaced one too many instances of BZIP with XZ, effectively breaking bzip2 support. This version fixes that.
