Some extra information:
Connecting from the machine I used before this one works without problems. Below follows the output of ssh -v nheirbaut@shell.sf.net for the machine on which I get a password prompt:

Hi,
I recently installed a new PC running Ubuntu on an AMD64 and created a private/public key pair using your instructions.
When trying to log on to shell.sourceforge.net I am still prompted for a password. Even after several hours of waiting to make sure that the public key that has been synchronized with the rest of your systems.
The same key pair used for access to another machine...
