vmware is software that provides a virtual machine interface so one can load
NT or other linux revisions on top of an already running linux install. There are
a couple modules that run to provide network services between the virtual machines and the rest of the world.
In /proc /net/dev you'll see entries like:
vmnet1: 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0.
