Hi,
this bug is already fixed in the current trunk of the Subversion repository.
If you have the chance to build it from the sources, just do it.
Else, I can provide you with my current stable version, I'm also using.
Additionally, when using Java 1.6, there are some more improvements.

Faced to your answer made me a little bit sorrowful.
So at lease, I please you to add some comments to the JavaDocs,
thus other developers will not fall into the same trap.

Hi there!
The current stable version of iText removes the first of all leading spaces
in multiline text paragraphs.
I've already submitted this as a patch proposal, but it was closed quickly.

That's why I'm trying to make a feature request, for the following reasons.

We are using iText for exporting some preformated textual reports to PDF.
So first of all, thanks for this great library!
Unluckily we've discovered a bug when writing multiline paragraphs of preformated text.
Problem: In lines with leading spaces, the first space gets trimmed.
This will result in wrong alignments of the preformated text.
