And that Dominik, is the perfect answer :) Thanks Paul and wellread1 for your help. Thanks Dominik for building such an epic app, which I have been using for about 12 years, and knowing it inside out. Have yourself a beer or two (Confirmation number: 3CL23576EK3424332). Guy

Indeed. It says I have 1655 rows... Do you happen to know whether Delete Duplicates takes account of Modification date - and politely keeps the most recent? I don't remember ever using a previous version of an entry, so I think I could cope with deleting the older ones and, as you say, keeping a backup copy just in case.
Thanks Paul. How strange... I would guess that it has something to do with versions. On the old laptop, I had been using KeePass v1.x; on the new laptop I decided to use Keepass v2.x - I used export / import. None of the entries in the image have anything in the History tab, yet an entry that I edited yesterday (KeePass Forum!) does have a History entry. Maybe the only way that the import process works for history, is to create entries with different Modification Dates based on history from the v1...
I would say that they are history items. Image attached.
Thanks wellread1. I am using 2.37. Edit Recycle bin Group "Searching entries in this group" is already set to Disabled. I have checked Exclude expired entries in quick searches as suggested, but that didn't help. For 1 particular item for a work password (that I have to change every 90 days!) I have 46 rows, going back to 2006 when I must have started using KeePass... By the way, I do not set passwords to expire. I don't think my issue is with expired items, or deleted items. It is old item versions...
I am sure that in a previous instal of KeePass (different laptop), search results just showed the most recent version of each entry that matched the criteria, but now I get a large list of things, most of which I don't care about. Is there a way of filtering out the old version please? I have been through the settings looking for a switch, and could not find one, but I am prepared to look stupid if someone could please point me to it :)
