my momentum has slowed down, i too am one of those "lots of experience in java by getting paid for it" kind that's weak in swing ;-)
i did several fixes, and they've been uploaded into the cvs tree ... but from what i've noticed, there's a few different projects going on in that tree ... i'm using the jLiveJournal code that i modified, and it's working pretty good if you want to...

i found and fixed a few bugs in the most recent file release (no, i haven't downloaded the cvs tree yet) ... and i simplified some of the socket code ... found some more bugs to fix, but would like to contribute the fixes back, if there's still active development ...

in general, linux scsi performance is just plain crusty ... as it's been explained to me (i haven't gone to verify this myself), there's a 16kb buffer for all scsi transaction. basically, you're trying to shove a lot of bandwidth down that single small hole.
from what i've seen, there are people working on completely overhauling the scsi layer of the linux kernel, especially considering the...

to be honest, i haven't tried iometer with windows at all (we're a linux shop here), but that's very curious ... i take it you compiled with gcc, but with what kind of optimization?
just out of curiosity, what sort of hardware did you run it on? scsi or ide? scsi under linux is dog slow ...
have you tried it with the intel linux compiler?
just curious ;-)

the single executable was uploaded to try to help solve a problem a user was having.
The source is available via CVS as an anonymous user, you should be able to download the source, and compile it from there.

apparently, since sourceforge has decided to close the
previous record, without even bothering to check to see
if the problem has been resolved, i have to create this
new support request.
the original request contained the problem that i was
not able to use cvs, as my home directory had
disappeared, and offered me the advice that i had never
bothered to log in to have my home directory...
