  • Followup: RE: Adobe Reader Snapin

Wow, I didn't know you could do the whole .cmd thing with the snapins. Thanks!

  • Followup: RE: Adobe Reader Snapin

I managed to create a snapin for Adobe Reader 9.1 using the InstallRite software. Simply launch the installer for Adobe Reader from within InstallRite and let it finish its work. After that, you tick a few self-explanatory checkboxes, fill in a location and file name, and you're done. It might be a good idea to test the snapin out by running the .exe on another machine to make sure that it...

  • Followup: RE: Updating Ubuntu

Not as far as I can tell. I upgraded the Ubuntu install on my FOG server about four weeks ago and it is still up and running. One nice thing about 9.04 is that it fixes that bug in the connection manager where your static IP settings are "lost" after a reboot. Of course, if you don't use the connection manager and manually edit your config files, this means nothing.

http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livepxe.php Follow the above-linked guide, modifying the instructions to suit your environment. For instance, it lists the TFTP boot directory as /tftpboot/nbi_img/, whereas FOG's simply boots out of /tftpboot. Works like a charm once it's set up.

  • File Spanning

How does one go about setting FOG up to split the file into X MB chunks? It appears as if all that is required is modifying the parameters partimage uses, but where is the file located? Is it a .php?.

That works as well, RoasedTiresX. GParted Live is definitely faster that a standard XP CD. Especially if you add it to FOG's PXE menu. This works well if you only have a couple of machines that need to be imaged, and you don't mind touching each machine. For large deployments, however, this can become time consuming.

This particular thread might be of interest: https://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=3097063&forum_id=716419 In short, some code in FOG looks to read the labels of the partitions on the blank hard disk. Of course, since it is blank, it doesn't have any labels. The above-linked thread can show you how to go about modifying the offending code and get your hard disks...

  • Followup: RE: using PING images with fog

I've wondered about that very same thing. Does the FOG database store explicit paths to the files, or does it simply load whatever is in the /images/your_image/ directory?.

  • FOG Font

What is the name of the typeface (font) used for the 'FOG' logo?.

Thanks for the info Mikey. By chance, would you happen to know if this method of spanning files would work with Partimage?.
