Duh, I really feel silly now, sorry :/
Anyway, it does work fine with soundblaster for me -- just let it play through the entire song twice (although ironically, I think the pcspeaker/realsound version sounds actually better in DosBox). My DosBox soundblaster settings are the default ones of the Mac OS X config file:
[sblaster]
sbtype=sb16
sbbase=220
irq=7
dma=1
hdma=5
mixer=true...

You're right, it doesn't work for me anymore under older DosBox versions either. Really strange. But it gets stranger:
a) I found another version of this intro in http://www.dcee.net/Files/Demo/digdream.arj, and that one works fine with 0.70.
b) then I started looking where I got my version from, to see whether it got corrupted somehow. I found it at...

This is an old, small intro from The Dream Team. It worked fine on DosBox 0.65, but under DosBox 0.70 it hangs after you choose your sound card and printing "Attention! Please stand by.....Decompacting Music...."
DosBox is at full cpu usage at this point.
I'm running DosBox with a fixed cycle count on a PowerMac G5/1.8GHz using the "normal" core. I've attached the "digdream.exe" file.

In Safari (2.0.4) it's actually worse: there those big ads do overlap text and images partially (at least at 1024x768)

You need a whole new version of Mac OS X (at least 10.3.9, preferably 10.4.x) to support this, unless you start manually building the developer tools for 10.2.8 and hope that they work there (as of 10.4.x, Apple still does not support running newer developer tools on older Mac OS X releases).

Would it be possible to put ginstall in /opt/sfw/bin (like on sparc-solaris1) rather than in /opt/csw/bin/? Afaik the former location is the standard one (it's also where it's installed on the Solaris servers at my university).
Thanks.

ginstall is available on sparc-solaris1 at /opt/sfw/bin/ginstall, but not on sparc-solaris2
I'd like to request the installation of ginstall (and possibly other missing GNU utils?) on sparc-solaris2 as well.
Thanks.
