This item has been resolved; the fix has been checked into git (http://repo.or.cz/w/nasm.git) and will be in the next release.
You can usually also obtain a nightly snapshot at http://www.nasm.us/; the snapshot robot usually runs some time between 07:00 and 09:00 UTC, but sometimes runs immediately if there was no previous snapshot for today.

Nevermind. I was able to reproduce this, and this is, indeed, explicitly fixed by checkin 7ad24562dccca867d9ba591ac7dd242456003c5b. So this is, of course, a real bug, but it has been fixed already.
I guess it is time for 2.08-rc1 soon...

The current version doesn't appear to have this problem. You may want to try the latest release version and/or the latest snapshot from http://www.nasm.us/.

This does not seem to happen with the latest snapshot build, could you please confirm that?
That may just be hiding the error, though -- I don't see anything in the history which is likely to be a fix for this problem...

It seems like a reasonable idea to me (although the issue with double-dot as a system prefix will require careful handling.)
However, this is probably not something that is going to get implemented unless patches are contributed.

This bug as well as all the others like it should be fixed by adding explicit operand sizes to insns.dat combined with the new fuzzy matching support in the master branch.
