Overall the whole situation of inability to deal with latest media framework from managed code seems strange.

DirectShow is an option :) I've researched some time about this topic and did not found any reasonable way how to do it there as well. The constraint is that I don't want to deal with C++ code (which is probably unrealistic).
Anyway I would appreciate any additional hints in MF or DS space.

Is there any way how I can playback video content using Meida Foundation not supplying filename/url, but using System.IO.Stream instead?
