  • new Vec3 methods breaking binary code

If I'm not wrong methods which now return a Vec3 as a result of scale, subtract etc. break existing binary code, ie plugins. I understand the reason for these changes and welcome them, but I'm reluctant to break binary compatibility for a so widely used class. While we can provide recompiled plugins against 2.8, here are some reasons why breaking binary compatibility at such depth is not good...

Do you mean all plugins or what ? (If I have to recompile all my plugins then I might be more annoyed then Delores ;) ) François.

    >By AoI's 20th anniversary, you should be able to raytrace images in real time directly onto your visual cortex. Getting a bit overexcited aren't we ? Well at least it's a real pleasure to see you don't lack imagination for new features ! Happy anniversary and more important, happy 10 years to come. I hope you and us will get as much pleasure in these next 10 years than we did in the...

Well, the point is rather not what you were saying but how you were expressing it : "Despite this knowledge and awareness, reading the following lines in TriMeshViewer.java has simply left me stunned[] Oh, and brace yourself for when you figure it out. [] When I came to my senses, the obvious questioned immediately popped up" Etc. This is not exactly what I'd call a nice comment...

I update the code through SVN repo and usually don't try the 'binary' releases. I've tried the .ea release as you suggested and yes, it works ! Francois.

This was reported to work with Freemind : http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20090915085543375 Could it be as simple as updating the java stub ? However, how is the compatibility with PPC Intel be ensured ? Symlink ? Francois.

  • Clojure

http://clojure.org/ This looks like fun. On a totally hypothetical basis, I wonder if this type of language is not better suited for scripting than Java-Beanshell is. I'd like to say I'd try it sometime but the (sad) truth is that I'll probably never have the time to. François.

  • Mac AoI Launcher under avalanche

The JavaApplicationStub that is provided to launch AoI for MacOSX is a PPC code which requires Rosetta when using Intel Macs. Now that Snow Leopard has been released from Cupertino zoo, Rosetta is optional and proposed only if a (usually pretty outdated) program needs it. My 2c is that requiring Rosetta for a launcher is a waste of resource and may deter people from using AoI. I suppose AoI is...
