  • Comment: Meteo 1.6.1 won't load

Michelle, It appears you are not allowing non-sanboxed applications to run. See this article: http://www.bu.edu/infosec/howtos/bypass-gatekeeper-safely/ Ed.

I'm on 10.8.3, running Meteo 1.6.1. I normally don't have Meteo in the dock but I just put it there and there is a white dot indicating it's running. I don't have and 4 finger swipes setup so I'm not sure what list of running apps you are referring to. If I do Force Quit to see what's running, I see Meteo. Need more information to what you're seeing. Ed.

The ? means Meteo could not establish a connection to the weather.com server. It sounds like Meteo is launching before your internet connection has been completed. By the time you do the refresh, the connection is there. When you select Show City Editor, then the Cities tab, then double-click on Gävle, then click on the Weather Items tab. From there you can control what appears in the...

Are there any messages in the Console log file? Worst case, in Preferences/Updating there is an option to Log message to console. Ed.

Bring up the Console app. Start Meteo. Look for any messages that might indicate what is going wrong. If you scroll down the left side in Console, there is a specific filter for Meteo. That may make it easier to limit what you see. I'm not on my Mac at the moment, but there is also a preference in Meteo to enable extended message logging. Good for debugging but annoying after it's running smooth.

I don't find any option for doing this. Possibly in some future release. Ed.

Because it is an open source app, no it can't because nobody owns it. However if you right click on the app and select Open, it will add only this app to the exception list and not open it to other applications. Ed.

The "dot" was brought up before and the suggested fix was to make the dot transparent instead of the default of white. So that was the change that was implemented. But that change didn't affect the size but from what I'm understanding the size of the window is changing. As for the other, Meteo has the option to run in both menu bar mode and on the dock. Perhaps the window showing up...

Most likely, in Preferences/Alerts, you have Meteorologist set to notify you via email when an weather alert is issued.
