It took me a while to figure out why Windows Update was giving me an 0x80070001 error... I even resorted to reinstall Windows and do tests on a VM. In my case, to get Windows Update working again I had to remove the virtual drive that I created, "A:\Temp" in my case. Even resetting the Temp environment variables to default doesn't seem to help.
OK, after using the application for several days I've arrived to the conclusion that it just likes to crash randomly for no clear reason. I feel stupid for all my troubleshooting and "research".
