OK, I have made a check with Asunder. I can't get the log function to run, but checking the time with a wristwatch it is a tad faster than fre:ac under Wine. It's clearly much faster than fre:ac under Linux.
Thanks for trying to figure out what's wrong. Did you download the x86-64 version of fre:ac? Yes Is the output folder on an internal drive? Yes Are DSP filters deactivated? Yes I have the suspicion that it could be related to the driver of my Linux system. Do you know whether Wine uses the same Linux driver or whether it uses a bypass based on it's own drivers?
Paranoia mode is off and there is no speed limit. When I enable the protocol tab, I can see a total duration 2:42.569 (24.8x speed) for Windows and total duration 11:36.818 (6.1x speed) for Linux.
when ripping a CD to FLAC with fre:ac, the Linux version is awfully slow compared to the Windows version. I installed the Windows version under Wine and ripping the same CD with all settings between Linux and Windows versions checked one by one that they are the same, the process takes 4~5 times longer with the Linux version. Why is it so much slower? Linux Mint 19.3 fre:ac V1.1 RC 1 64bit for both Linux and Windows FLAC encoder v1.3.3 with setting '0, fastest encoding'
