It seems the LogFile option as described at http://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=11885&group_id=50000#LogFile is currently not yet supported. Probably we want to add support for that.

Updating the old server IP (82.94.255.100) to the new server hostname (public.pyzor.org) should be done by the packagers. I have asked the Debian/Ubuntu packager to do this. Losing the "pyzor discover" function, since we have a DNS based system now, can remain open as a low priority feature request.

http://mailadmin.wordpress.com/2008/06/23/my-case-of-pyzor-check-failed-internal-error/ also seems a possible (spamassassin) fix for this issue. The Debian packager has been notified about this.

Although Pyzor is supposed to be specifically used to report/check "content fingerprints", it could be very valuable to add the IP address of the spamming server to the report. This would allow us to try and track the different spamming sources. Eventually we could also add this as a clue to the check. What are your thoughts on this?.

Currently 'pyzor discover' is used to determine the public server. Instead, we moved to a DNS based hostname 'public.pyzor.org' which determines the active public server.
Possibly we can replace the 'discover' function with this new hardcoded default. It's also important that anyone upgrading from a previous version that is using the old public server, will automatically change to...

Hostname indeed seems to work fine. I have changed the default Pyzor server from 82.94.255.100:24441 to public.pyzor.org:24441 (which resolves to that same IP). If anyone has a better hostname suggestion then do let me know.

I have not actually checked if this already works. Will do.

The pyzor client should also support a hostname instead of an IP address when using "pyzor discover" (downloaded from http://pyzor.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/inform-servers-0-3-x).
DNS round-robin can then be used to support multiple servers. It also makes it much easier to move the public server to a new IP.
