Code looks good to me, Casey. Thanks.
I used approach 2. I just do not yet understand the rebase process and squashing well enough to do that successfully.
Fix DP issue displaying links to a user's Google+ account
Yes, that would probably do it. Now that I've already opened the MR, what's the appropriate action for me to update my code to fix it? (Sorry; I'll try to keep better notes this time.)
Ah, the +CaseyPeel form is apparently using a "vanity" URL. More info in this article about linking one's Google+ profile to LinkedIn: https://www.repequity.com/blog/adding-google-link-linkedin-profile I apparently don't qualify for one, and have certainly never asked for one, so I only have the old number form available, without the + sign.

I suppose the answer might be that the + is required when the value is non-numeric, and disallowed when the value is numeric?
Well, that is interesting. On the other hand, try clicking on the Google+ link on https://www.pgdp.net/c/stats/members/mdetail.php?id=135031 (the user who reported the problem) or https://www.pgdp.net/c/stats/members/mdetail.php?id=81733 (my profile) Both fail. The first, which has https://plus.google.com/+116021218278140924238 works with the + removed. The second (mine) also works with the + removed. If I go to my Google+ profile the URL there is https://plus.google.com/u/0/114427556983527400531...
