Ekkehart, there is no "the example data" for a package in general, so I don't think this is a viable option. (The fact that some packages are shipped with special datasets cannot be generalized.)

This is an old ticket, don't know how you worked around it in the meantime, Artur. I'm attaching a hansl-based prototype function panplot_gen which is partly based on your stack_data package. I see that in your PanelTools package you have a function panplot_quantile already. Perhaps something like the attached function could go into your package to provide the wanted functionality. cheers, sven
Re-considering the current situation, I actually am not so sure anymore that something like that would be very useful. Compare this to the native commands (in the menus) when no dataset is loaded - they are simply greyed out and not accessible, simply because all that stuff in gretl revolves around an active dataset. So actually, one could also argue that in the context menu (right-clicking on a package in the pkg list window) the item "Execute" might also be greyed out for those packages that specify...
