Hi Muanna thampi. I did not see this error, and I don't have access to Centos 7.5 at the moment to test and reproduce this. What I might suggest is that you try to start snmpd manually in the foreground and see if it even launches. Do something like: /usr/local/src/snmpd.service -f and observe if you can see any output on the console. Of course change the path accordingly to where you stored your patched binary. If that launches, check your systemd unit files /usr/local/src/snmpd.service if they...
Bart thanks for that. Did you apply the first version of the patch, or the latest one? sourceforge.net sourceforge.net The first one had some issues with endianess not being handled correctly and other minor things. Here is how to make it working with Centos 7.5 Instruction is almost the same as in my previous post, so I will just mention the differences here. First of all, you need to add some code to net-snmp so it can be started and stopped via systemd. This is the info - https://github.com/haad/net-snmp/blob/master/README.systemd Great people at Centos already did that, but Centos 7 has a little bit older release of net-snmp. So I tok the systemd patch for net-snmp 5.7.2 from Centos source RPM: http://vault.centos.org/centos/7/os/Source/SPackages/net-snmp-5.7.2-32.el7.src.rpm...

Hi. Mind you I originally had it tested on 5.7.3. I tried to download version 5.7.1 on my Centos 7.6 Virtual Machine, compile it and I cannot see that error message showing up. However, I was able to apply the unmodified patch and it compiles clean, so you should have no problem in testing it yourself in case ou are seeing the error message (some posters suggested that it only shows up on physical machines). I'm just wondering, why do you have to use version 5.7.1? If you are going to apply the patch,...

For some reason I could not reply to your message, so I had to post in a separate thread - here https://sourceforge.net/p/net-snmp/patches/1320/#c006
