Problem found. The database server had been updated to enforce SSL security. Setting the following options in config.inc.php restored the database connection. $db_options['mysql']['ssl_ca'] $db_options['mysql']['ssl_cipher'] Thank you.

It may be the SSL options that need to be set properly. Working on it...

MRBS cannot connect using the MySQL PDO library. I can connect to the database using PHP mysqli function calls.
