Well, the suggestion is to free skim from PDFKit (as it is broken since Sierra, for over two years now), and keep PDFKit only as one possible choice... Because as long as PDFKit is broken, I cannot use skim.
That is not a contradiction. presentation.app apparently can do it with PDFKit, using the PDFDocument API... It's a pity that you categorically reject this key issue that renders skim unusable for presentations... yes, it's not your fault, but you could try to work around it, by using PDFKit to render to an off-screen buffer, then flipping. For many of your users, the rendering problem is a killer bug, and like me they likely won't be happy if it is always just closed, even if it is a known Apple...
