Happy to hear it worked for you Rubin. How are you having Grub2Win chainload Veracrypt?

When configuring your menu in Grub2Win click on the Preview window and select the nowallpaper option.

Having two menus certainly works, one for the current files and one for the .old files. Renaming the current files with the generic names like you suggested Drummer is overkill imo. In addition to renaming the kernel files with each update one has to edit the grub2win menu. If the update's kernel files names change one can change the menu to match the file's new names each update or run a bash script to rename the updated kernel files to the standard kernel names. If the new kernel files are like...

Got it. :-) No need for a ls command, just test the name of the variable. if [ ! -z $"{loop}" ]; then loopback -d loop fi Where "loop" is the name used in the: loopback loop $iso command.

Is there a way to test if a loopback file is loaded and delete it if it is? loopback loop file.iso works as does loopback -d loop. But sometimes the loop file doesn't boot and when trying to boot a different file2.iso grub errors that loop is already in use. I need an if statement that can test the presense of a loop file and allow me to delete it. How do I test the output of a ls command for (loop)?

So, while Pop-OS is based on Ubuntu and I can ISOBoot Ubuntu, Pop-OS apparently doesn't support ISO booting. It supports USB booting, which Grub2Win supports if you choose that option. Pop-OS, the OS installed on their System76 machines, sounds impressive. If you're a member of their forum Maestro you should suggest to them that to use the Ubuntu kernel so ISO booting their OS would work for people who want to download their ISO and test it. BTW Interesting files in the ISO: iso:\boot\grub\grub.cfg...
