Do you by any chance have the Manage->Options->Security->Unlock Difficulty slider set to a non-standard value? No. Default. open another instance of PasswordSafe with a blank database and only move the entries you want to keep to the new one via drag&drop. Seemed like a good idea, so i tried that but D&D did not work. What is the trick?
I always have the latest vesion and have used the app continuously for at least a decade. Probably more. That is the problem. A lot of junk has accumulated and deleing it is a frustrating and slow task--almost an impossible waste of time. It is not possible to select more than one entry for deletion at a time and after deletion, the entire list scrolls, making it necessary to find one's place again. I have hoped for a solution to this for a long time and at this point, figure I may have to switch...
Has anything changed in this rergard since 2017?
I don't know why, but the lock file does not work when the data file is in Dropbox. Fpor me anyhow. I have gone to RO by default, but it is a PITA.
I haven't tried across multiple machines but it must depend on how they are set up in order to tell each other that a file (the lock file) is already in use. I keep the database in my Dropbox and the lock file shows up there, too when the file is r/w, but seems ot be ignored. It is not always erased either. It seems that DB does not always update promptly and also DB has problems when files or folders of the same name are saved and erased repeatedly in fairly quick sequence or created on two machines...
Maybe I should mention that as my file grows, the database is very slow responding (Win 10) and several times when it did not open I have had to kill the app process and start over opening it. The second try has been successful -- so far. Also, being able to select more than one entry for deletion would make all my problems go away, I think.
The lock file seems to have no effect on other machines. Don't know about on the mobile. Does not seem to. . BTW, I could not see how to add a new entry on my mobile -- Nexus XL.
Win 10. V3.42.01 Maybe it is just me, but over time I have accumulated a huge collection of passwords. Moreover, since I use multiple computers accessing the same file. and there is no warning that the file is in use and I am not locked out from opening another r/w instance, I sometimes get conflicted versions. (Ihave noticed there is lock file generated when a file is opened, but it has never seemed to prevent opening the file in another instance -- or do anything I could determine). So, with all...
