Mouse trap in Fedora 12

In Fedora 12, application with buttons having pop-up menus: mouse cursor becomes trapped within bounds of button. No remedy except to come in through a console or net link and kill the application. Problem occurs whether application is compiled with Lesstif or OpenMotif, 32 bit or 64 bit. Problem is probably with X server or library, not with Lesstif itself. When application run remotely (ssh -X), the version of X.org on the X server (display) is relevant. See Red hat bugzilla # 543647 <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=543647> for further details and test applications.
This bug has probably also been reported at:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ddd/+bug/574157
https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?28247
The root-cause appears to be http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25400. Also see https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=543647 and https://bugs.gentoo.org/296514.
This bug should be marked invalid or similar; I've confirmed (see the launchpad bug comments) that it's a bug in the X server rather than the lesstif library; see discussion in the various bugs referenced below, especially the freedesktop.org bug which includes the patch that fixes the problem ("0001-dix-if-owner-events-is-true-for-passive-grabs-add-th.patch").
