I have found this since Xubuntu 8.04. When scim is used as the default input method, I can not type-to-select in thunar file manager. If I close scim, this function works instantly.

Please let me know if you need more debug info (and the instructions to get that info). thanks

Can you also please try if the problem is still present in the latest release 1.4.9? You can find ready-to-use packages in my hardy PPA at https://launchpad.net/~r0lf/+archive/hardy

We believe this issue should be fixed in the latest upstream 1.4.1.17.
