it would be much quicker, if i could just hit escape (or ctrl+esc to avoid accidental pressing) to abort a running compilation, rather than accessing the menu.
Ctrl+K it is. I tried to get Ctrl+Break to work, but I couldn't make it not cancel the entire dialog.
