1. Copy ebuild and manifest into /some/directory
2. Add the line:
    PORTDIR_OVERLAY=/some/directory
to /etc/make.conf
3. Install with
    sudo ebuild rodent-4.7.4.ebuild merge

That's it. 

4. To un install, do 
    sudo ebuild rodent-4.7.4.ebuild unmerge

5. With 4.7.6 (not yet released) you can create rpm with
    ebuild rodent-4.7.6.ebuild rpm
