  • Followup: RE: How to add a periodical?

Of course I am aware of the procedure of adding journal articles (1312 in my comics research database so far), but I want to give the possibility to look at the specialized journals in the research field – there existed many, mostly short-lived periodicals in the last 40 or 50 years, which history is interesting to follow through the times, and it's for these (not for all journals in my...

  • Followup: RE: How to add a periodical?

Hi Joachim, Happy New Year to you too. Currently, there is no 'journal' or 'periodical' type you can create from scratch -- v4 will implement this. In v3.8, journals/periodicals as 'collections' are automatically created when you create the first article in that journal. For subsequent articles in that journal, you can pre-select that journal by adding the resource to an existing...

  • How to add a periodical?

Hi Mark and all, a happy new year to all of you! Well, I wonder how to add a periodical to my database – I want to list all journals and yearbooks which exist in my research field (in addition to the journal contents), but there don't seem to exist a corresponding resource type. This type should keep informations like editor, organization, publisher (all of which are superfluous in a...

  • Followup: RE: serial in books and collection

Hi, Currently, series are not collected separately but this will change in v4. while there are no collections of books (i.e. series in v3.8), books themselves can be collection in which book chapters are maintained. Mark.

  • Followup: RE: problem with file types

Thank you. Most of the original files (if not all) have a .pdf extension. I'll try to find out, if there is a difference depending on the pdf-version, browser, os ... When I change the file type to application/pdf everything is fine, but that's not really a solution.

  • Followup: RE: problem with file types

Hi, I think the file type detection in wikindx is quite basic and works on the extension. If the original file upload is not xxxx.pdf then you may well have this problem. Mark.

  • problem with file types

I have a strange problem with attachments in my Wikindx3: *some* .pdf will appear as garbled heap of signes when opened in a browser. I looked into the database and found that the 'file Type' was set to text/html instead of application/pdf. But I have no idea, how this has happened. Other .pdf attachments open correctly. my wikindx version is 3.8.2, it's running with apache 2.2 on a linux...
